Recently, I went with my family to my Grandfather’s house to go through my Grandmother’s things that he wanted to get rid of but didn’t have time to since her death a year ago. There was just so much stuff, history, and memories. While looking through the mountain of things, there were a few boxes full of old vintage photographs. I was thrilled and so intrigued to figure out who these people are, how they connect to our family, what did these people do, what are the secrets or information that we weren’t told, and how long ago my family dates back. Some of my family members didn’t really want to go through all the photos and figure out who these people were. My great-grandmother left all these notes with the photographs, an aid from beyond. It’s a time warp. So my project whenever I get the time to do this, I (and my mother) are going to go through all the photographs and organize them. Then, we’re going to digitally save them and give them to the family. I am more than just excited to do this. I guess it’d just be nice to learn about my family, especially because my grandmother wasn’t very close. I’d love to go through my dad’s side eventually too, but I’m not sure if there is much information or photographs left behind. This is at least a start…and an exciting journey.

Here is a few photographs that I found (not of my family, that may happen later) just as inspiration. I love old photographs, and am really inspired by them. What about you all?

Hey everyone!

I have been so  busy and haven’t been inspired enough to really write anything. I have been thinking about what I should write, what to share, what would be interesting for everyone to read, etc. Then I realized, this can be my own personal blog. I created it for school initially. Now, I might as well write and use this for myself too, my favorite things, what I am thinking/doing, showing my art, etc.  This is what made me so excited and actually wanting to use wordpress again. When I had to do it for classes, the joy and passion was taken away from it. It became a chore. That’s not what art and sharing is about.

With that, I am starting fresh and sharing things I find unique, interesting, what I love, how I feel, what’s going on in my life, my own artwork and projects, and whatever else I feel like sharing. So here begins my new, fresh blog after months of not using my blog.

This is Rose Shock, an amateur make-up artist who lives in Finland. Personally, I think she is wonderful. I love all the eccentric, bold, and beautiful make-up works she does. Rose Shock is super sweet, very passionate about her art form, and just seems like an awesome person. She gives me a lot of inspiration, ideas for my paintings/drawings and own art. You should check out her blog and Facebook!!

I am not sure if these are posters or any specific advertisement, but these images caught my eye with the bold text, mixture of languages (i.e. English and German), and the colors used. I also love the business and cleanness of the pieces themselves. The use of space and flipping the text upside down in another color for the background is extremely eye catching and visually pleasing to me anyways. If these are advertisements, I say that they are doing their job by catching and holding their audience to pay attention and fid out more.

Some designs created by Jean Claude that I found off balladora.blogspot.com were really interesting and caught my eye. These colorful, busy, yet clean designs are rather beautiful. They are full of geometric type designs, shapes, and overall come off scientific. I personally love the use of her colors and use of negative/positive space.

What are your thoughts?

I’m not sure how functional the art of Zhang Zhoujie is, but I have got to admit that it is intriguing and pretty spectacular.

The shape, materials used, and the overall creation is something that I haven’t seen before.

What are your thoughts?

I just love looking at different fashion photos and different forms of art in general. It helps keep my creativity and inspiration constantly growing, giving me new ideas every day. One of the artists I happened upon that I find inspiring is Arena Page. The images are dark, over the top, and truly captivating. Maybe she’ll inspire you too.

Enjoy!

Due to the fact that my class right now is really focused on typography, advertising, layout, image and text, etc. since we are all going to be creating artists books or brochures for our final, I saw this project by  Romania-based artist Stefan Asafti. It’s titled Brandversations, an interesting project combining different brands together through image and text. It’s juxtaposing competing brands and somehow combining them together through their text and logos. It’s about the visual conversation between the company logos and how they compete with one another yet influence one another as well. The parallel of the combination of modern with the old is consistent with each individual piece, influenced by the 40s and 50s.

I think his work is extremely successful and is visually pleasing. I think that overall this project is a great idea. What are your thoughts?

Here’s some interesting images by David Maisel for a bit of Sunday evening inspiration.

Enjoy!ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Personally, I love to paint. I know that there are others like me out there who just love to get their hands dirty in art supplies. I haven’t had much experience particularly with watercolor. However, there are artists out there who inspire me to learn more about water color painting and do more with that medium. Lora Zombie is one of those artists who inspire me. She has a great sense of humor within her peaces as well as amazing talent, layout, design, and concept. Not only is her art amazing, she’s a beautiful blue haired female. How many people do you know who can look as amazing as their artwork with bright blue hair.

Here’s the link for her webpage, which is equally as impressive and interactive.
